LOCAL PLAN – Consultation Starting January 2025

Lewes District Council will begin the next stage of consultation over the Lewes District Local Plan on Monday 6th January running up to 5pm on Friday 28th February 2025.

Local plans set out where future development will take place, such as new homes and locations for business growth, as well the local policy requirements against which future planning applications will be judged.

Phase one of the consultation is on the detailed policies for the plan area and will consider sites within towns and a limited number of villages.

A second phase will take place later in 2025 and have a greater emphasis on more rural parts of the district, while also re-evaluating areas considered during phase one.

There will be a series of consultation drop-in events at locations across the district in January and February 2025. The one for Chailey will be held on the 1st February, 10am to 1pm at Newick Village Hall, 2 Western Road, Newick, BN8 4LF. Members of the Planning Policy Team from Lewes will be present at this event along with members from your Parish Council. We would encourage you to attend this event if you can.

Online webinar

An online webinar for members of the public with a Q&A session will be held on Tuesday 14 January from 5pm to 6.30pm. This will be recorded and made available on our website after the event.
