A message from Keith Glazier, leader of the County Council to all East Sussex residents. Every one of us in East Sussex has been affected by coronavirus. It has brought drastic changes to our daily lives and, in some cases, great sadness. My thoughts are with everyone coping with grief and worry at this unprecedented time. As leader of the county council, I’d also like to focus on what we can do to help each other in East Sussex. We have brilliant health and social care staff putting themselves on the front-line each day to help the sick and the vulnerable. We have dedicated emergency services, teachers, delivery drivers, shop staff and thousands more all helping to keep us protected and supplied. And we have volunteers taking on more work for their communities in this time of need. A heartfelt thank-you to them all.
A full range of measures have been made available to support businesses, public services and individuals during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Businesses can find out what support is available to them and where and how they can access it by visiting www.businesssupport.gov.uk.
Information Received from Lewes District Council: People who received a letter from the NHS because they are at high risk if they catch the Coronavirus and don’t have a support network of friends and family around them, are reminded to visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable or call 0800 0288327, the government’s dedicated helpline. For people at high risk, the government’s measures will make sure they get the essential food and medicines they need by following the advice in the letter.
The government is presently advising the population to stay at home and practice social distancing, whilst being allowed to take one form of exercise a day. If working your allotment is to carry on being seen as legitimate exercise then it is imperative that plot-holders follow all the guidelines, allotment sites are as risky as anywhere else. We think that now is the time to consider working your plot in isolation i.e. not with household members and if you can stay away for a few weeks to do so.
This summarises the current status of the Chailey Neighbourhood Development Plan (CNDP), “Shaping Chailey”.
The Council is aware that there is interest in play provision of some kind being provided in Chailey. It shares that interest.
